]]> http://raahi.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/whose-morality-on-the-events-in-baroda/#comment-27 kaustubh Fri, 25 May 2007 17:02:21 +0000 http://raahi.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/whose-morality-on-the-events-in-baroda/#comment-27 hinduism hardly exists anymore. something has happened. earlier to make political/ religous assertions there was a certain academic authority that was required. you had to be a pandit or a shastri at least if not a vairagi but the secularization of religion in a democracy makes anyone capable of claiming to represent popular sentiment. it's not that neeraj jain is not a brahmin so he cant talk about what is right and what is wrong with religious imagery the problem is that no one should be allowed to represent a religion without scriptural knowledge (though "hindu" texts arent exactly scriptures) a democracy has no room for fakirs, dervishes, seers, avtaars or prophets here only the orator-politician with the merchants standing behind him can be heard. everyone is silently waiting for someone to speak, no one else does the only voices they hear are neeraj jain(modi) or sonia gandhi. personally i think they're as bad as each other. both the congress and bjp create and magnify divisions/ categories that are unimportant/ non existant to hide the only real division that exists in today's socity. the divide between the rich and the poor. hinduism hardly exists anymore.
